"Something is wrong with my brother.....he's a little off. He has this look in his eye like he sees everyone but hes alone. I don't know what is going on With him or running through his head but he even slouches a little when he walks. Turn all the lights off in your house at midnight and walk without touching the walls, now your acting like my brother. I asked him if he is okay and he gave me the most common lie known to human existence: "i'm fine nothing's wrong". The pat I received on my head afterwards let me know that he wasn't going to tell me what was bothering him"
I have a confession to make. I don't have a big brother. I am the oldest between my younger brother and I. it's only the two of us. However this doesn't take away any truth from my vignette. Everything that was said was one hundred percent true, i saw it happen with my own eyes. Yonel and Miggs, even JC, are real people. Don't believe me? Well hear it from Yonel's perspective! He made a song about that night called "The Ugly" on his mix tape "The Premeditation". He really is a rapper that prefers to write when he is troubled or feeling something heavy in his chest (artist name is Sage). Honestly, that's what inspired me to write that piece I was on my way home after class and heard that song and felt it was the perfect connection for my vignette. Now i just told you Yonel isn't my big brother and i told you i saw everything happen with my own eyes, so who was the narrator throughout the piece? That's where it gets interesting. Instead of just stating facts for homework, I decided to take my presence completely out of the story and write from Yonel's little brother Joshua's perspective. This gave me a little more room for expanding the story and give a deeper connection to the characters.
